Our Vision

May 2012

Our Vision is

  • For all people to come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour from sin and death, and be born into the new life of the Holy Spirit.
  • That all Christians be able to meet together in the name of Jesus, in love, worship and service, giving witness to the joy and hope of the resurrection.
  • That every individual be free in body and spirit, to be the person God has created them to be.

Our Name

Behold I have set before you an open door which no-one will be able to shut.
Revelation 3:8

This is the verse that inspired the name of our Community. It tells us that Jesus has made it possible for us to spread the Gospel of truth throughout the world by the power of the Holy Spirit released in our lives. It also speaks of the door He has opened for us to enter into eternal glory.

Our Charisms

We believe we have a particular gifting and calling in the following three areas:

Prayer

We are a Community who serve God in praise, worship, and intercession.

My House shall be called a House of Prayer for all nations.
Isaiah 56:7

Ecumenism

We are an ecumenical Community who share Gods burden for His people to be one.

Father may they be one in us as you are in me and I am in you so that the world may believe that it was you who sent me.
John 17:21

Hospitality

We provide a place where hospitality can be given to those who come to stay or to visit. This heart of hospitality also reaches out to those whom its members are called to serve in the wider world, whether by prayer or any other kind of service.

I am among you as one who serves.
Luke 22:27

Our Spiritual Life

Members of the Community belong to different denominations. Remaining faithful to our own traditions, we contribute to the life of the Community, which is charismatic and based on Scripture. In this way, we aim to live the Gospel in our everyday lives, to the glory of God.
