John Trimming will lead three Bible studies on “Faith” over three Friday nights evenings this February.
Matthew 11: 4, 5 “Go and report to John what you hear and see: the blind receive sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.”
When John the Baptist, near his death, began to doubt that Jesus was the one he had prophesied was coming, Jesus pointed to the effect of his being in the world. He listed visible effects in the lives of those who accepted and believed in him.
As we believe in Jesus, we will find the same is true of us in a spiritual sense:
- though we were blind spiritually, we begin to see and understand;
- though we were deaf to God’s voice, we can hear and obey him;
- through faith we can walk with Jesus.
The talks over these three evenings will reflect on key scriptures on faith associated with these images.
We hope that reflecting on faith in February will help us to prepare for in-depth meditation on Scripture during the 12 weeks of the “Big Picture” which follow on from these evenings.
