Matt Blair – HOD Friday Fellowship meeting for July
Jul 19 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Matt Blair from Gas Street Church in Birmingham spoke at HOD last year.  He returns to be our Friday Night Fellowship Meeting speaker on 19 July 2024.

Matt is Operations Coordinator (GS South) and Associate Student Pastor for Gas Street Church in Birmingham, which describes itself as “compelled by a Jesus-centred vision to be ‘Light for the City’”.

Matt writes: We will be looking at being “Battle Ready” from Ephesians 6 and the armour of God. Paul says we are in a spiritual battle so it’s time to live like it. No more being on the back foot against the devil schemes. We have a strategy to know the enemy and put on the full armour of God to take our stand against the evil one. God’s Word tells us we are strong “in his mighty power” therefore it’s time to live in the full authority that comes from being more than a conqueror through him who loved us.

Join us if you can – in the Tithe Barn at HOD for worship, the talk, prayer and fellowship – All welcome.
For those who can’t come in person on the night, we sometimes upload recordings of talks after our meetings to our YouTube channel.

Retreat Day – “Being Alive to God” with Andy Swinford
Mar 22 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

This is a Lent retreat day in which we’ll reflect on some of the ways in which we can be ‘alive to God’ in our daily lives.

said St Paul, and again

‘God made you alive together with Christ’ (Colossians 2.13).

Led by Andy Swinford, we’ll use scripture, creation, words and music to explore some refreshing takes on this ‘aliveness’.

There will be time set aside during the day for prayer, contemplation, and wandering in the beautiful grounds of The House of the Open Door.

Join us as we seek the Lord together.

We suggest a donation for the day of £20, including refreshments.

Please bring your own packed lunch.

__________

It has been said “speaking your truth is the most powerful tool you have”.

I left school at 16 to pursue a rock ’n’ roll dream as a drummer. In my early 20’s I had a transforming faith experience and became a follower of Jesus.

Adventures in music brought the privilege of playing with many wonderful and well known artists and on the way stories emerged; stories of faith, hope and a love that is there for all.

I look forward to sharing these with you – Terl Bryant

Retreat Day – “For the beauty of the earth” with Andy Swinford

Over and around us lies:
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise.

Led by Andy Swinford, we’ll use scripture, creation, words and music to help us enjoy and celebrate the twin theme of creation and resurrection.
